Michael A. Morris was born in Winston Salem, North Carolina in 1953. He graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles (B.A., 1976) and Western State University (J.D., 1979). He was admitted to the California Bar in 1982 and has been named a Certified Specialist in Family Law by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization.
Mike was named Best Lawyers in America - "Orange County Family Lawyer of the Year” for 2013.
Mike has been listed as a Super Lawyer since 2004. He has been listed in Best Lawyers in America since 2007, and has been listed as a Best Lawyer in Orange Coast Magazine since 2007. He has taught Continuing Education courses on Fundamentals of Family Law (1993, 2006); Child Custody and Visitation in California (1995); Recent Developments in Family Law (1996); Family Law for Social Workers, Counselors and Other Helping Professionals (2000); and “Me and My Shadow (Partner and Associates)” (American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, 2005). He served as Co-dean for the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers Fourteenth Annual Institute of Trial Advocacy (2007). He was elected to the AAML Board of Directors (2007 - 2012). He co-authored Ethical Issues Involving Minor’s Counsel, published in the O.C. Lawyer (8/90). Mr. Morris frequently lectures for the Public Law Center of Orange County on Family Law issues.
Mike is President of the Southern California Section of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (2012-2013). He serves on the Board of Directors of Human Options whose mission it is to break the cycle of domestic violence.
Mike is a member of the Orange County Bar Association and the State Bar of California. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and a Founding Fellow of the Society of Fellows of the Orange County Bar Foundation. His reported cases include Marriage of Schulze (1997) 60 Cal.App.4th 519.
