Mark E. Minyard was born in McAlester, Oklahoma. He graduated from California State University at Fullerton (B.A., with honors, 1973) and Loyola Law School (J.D., 1976). He was admitted to the California Bar in 1976, and became a Certified Specialist in Family Law by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization in 1981.

Mark has been listed as a Super Lawyer since its inception in 2004 and has been included in the Super Lawyers Top 50 Orange County Lawyers since that date. He has been listed as a "Best Lawyer" by Orange Coast Magazine each year since 2003. He has been listed as one of the Best Lawyers by Orange Coast Magazine each year since 2003. In 2009, he was named Best Lawyers in America - "Orange County Family Lawyer of the Year."

Mark has served as a Continuing Education of the Bar lecturer on the following topics: Fundamentals of Family Law (2006); Dividing Property on Dissolution of Marriage (1984); Family Law Litigation and Enforcement of Orders (1984); Family Law Litigation (1985); Dividing Property on Dissolution (1990); Valuing Assets in Dissolution (1991); Spousal and Child Support (1993). He spoke on Life Insurance Issues in Divorce to the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, Southern California Chapter (Laguna Niguel, 2005) and spoke on life insurance issues at the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers Fourteenth Annual Institute of Trial Advocacy (2007). His article, “Life Insurance – Conflict and Confusion,” was published by the California State Bar’s CEB in 2007.  Mark's article, “Practice Tips for Non-Family Law Attorneys Whose Clients Are Contemplating Separation or Divorce” was published in the Orange County Lawyer, June, 2008.

Mark is a member of the Los Angeles County Bar Association, the Orange County Bar Association, Beverly Hills Bar Association, the American Bar Association and the State Bar of California.

Mark received the Anti-Defamation League's Marcus M. Kaufman Jurisprudence Award for 2009. Mark received the Distinguished Alumnus Award from Loyola Law School in 2005.  He was also presented with the 2008 Spirit Award by the Legal Aid Society of Orange County.

In 2008 Mark received the Orange County Bar Foundation’s Society of Fellows’ first Distinguished Fellow’s Award for his outstanding dedication to the society’s mission to serve the underserved youth in our community.

He was appointed to serve on the Board of Directors of the Orange County Bar Association’s Charitable Fund for 2010 and 2011. Mark is a Member of the Board of Directors of the Orange County Bar Association’s Masters Division (2011 – 2015). Mr. Minyard serves on the Orange County Bar Association’s Judiciary Committee (2012 – 2014). He served on the Executive Committee of the Orange County Bar Association's Family Law Section (1984, 1994-1996). He served on the Board of Directors of the Orange County Bar Association (2006 and 2007).

In 2014 Mark received the Orange County Bar Foundation’s highest honor, the Samuel W. Barnes Award. It is presented annually to an individual who has contributed significantly to the foundation’s mission to “empower youth to make better decisions and become better citizens.”

Mark serves on the Board of Trustees of the Orange County Bar Foundation (2005 – 2015).  He also served as Treasurer of the Orange County Bar Foundation (2006-2010) and as President in 2012. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the Public Law Center (2005-2015). Mark has been a member of the Loyola Law School Board of Overseers since 2008.

Mark is a Fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers and in the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. He is also a Life Fellow of The American Bar Foundation and a Founding Fellow of the Society of Fellows of the Orange County Bar Foundation.

Mark was the only Orange County lawyer appointed by the State of California's Judicial Council to serve on the prestigious Elkins Family Law Task Force in 2008-2010.
