Mark E. Minyard is a Certified Specialist in Family Law by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization. Mark’s extensive experience and proven track record has been recognized by Super Lawyers Top 50 Orange County Lawyers since its inception in 2004. Additionally, he has been listed in Best Lawyer - U.S. News and World Report each year since 2003 and specifically named in Best Lawyers in America - Orange County Family Lawyer of the Year in 2009. Mark has served as a State Bar of California Continuing Education of the Bar lecturer on the following topics: Fundamentals of Family Law; Dividing Property on Dissolution of Marriage; Family Law Litigation and Enforcement of Orders; Family Law Litigation; Dividing Property on Dissolution; Valuing Assets in Dissolution; Spousal and Child Support. As an expert in family law, he has also had numerous speaking engagements with organizations such as the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and UCI School of Law. . His articles have been published in the California State Bar’s CEB and Orange County Lawyer.
Mark is a member of the Los Angeles County Bar Association, the Orange County Bar Association, Beverly Hills Bar Association, the American Bar Association and the State Bar of California; a Fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers and in the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers; a Life Fellow of The American Bar Foundation; and a Founding Fellow of the Society of Fellows of the Orange County Bar Foundation. Mark is a member of the Board of Directors of the Orange County Bar Association’s Masters Division (2011 – present) and also serves on the Association’s Judiciary Committee (2012 – present). He has previously served on the Executive Committee of the Orange County Bar Association's Family Law Section and the Board of Directors of the Orange County Bar Association’s Charitable Fund.
Mark was the only Orange County lawyer appointed by the State of California's Judicial Council to serve on the prestigious Elkins Family Law Task Force from 2008-2010.
In addition to his legal career, Mark is committed to giving back to the community. He currently serves as a member of the Orange County Bar Foundation Board of Trustees (2005 to present), where he has also held the position of President and Treasurer. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the Public Law Center (2005 to present) and Loyola Law School Board of Directors (2008 to present).
Mark has been recognized for his contributions to the community and non-profits with the Anti-Defamation League's Marcus M. Kaufman Jurisprudence Award, the Distinguished Alumnus Award from Loyola Law School, the Spirit Award by the Legal Aid Society of Orange County, and the Orange County Bar Foundation’s Society of Fellows’ first Distinguished Fellow’s Award for his dedication to the underserved youth in our community.
In 2014 Mark received the Orange County Bar Foundation’s highest honor, the Samuel W. Barnes Award. It is presented annually to an individual who has contributed significantly to the foundation’s mission to “empower youth to make better decisions and become better citizens.”
Mark is a graduate of Cal State Fullerton and Loyola Law School. At Loyola, one of the best views of the campus and downtown Los Angeles is from inside the top floor of the Minyard Tower. At Frank Gehry’s invitation, French architect Jean Nouvel, a Pritzker Prize winner, designed the polished stainless steel tower which catches endless mirrored fragments of the surrounding campus and buildings for Law School students, staff, and faculty to enjoy for generations to come.
